I'm even surprised that I was able to convert the first Dolphin Princess book into an eBook!
Yep! The first installment of the book series is now available in three formats: hardcover, paperback, and now as an eBook!
Funny story, actually: I was Googling how to create an eBook, because I kept hearing over and over that Barnes and Noble (and of course, other retailers) are welcoming eBooks. And in today's world, where a lot of things are going digital, a question arose of whether or not that would be my future. I thought about it, and it turned out that there were pros and cons to eBooks:
PROS:
1. Easier to carry (portable)
2. More viewership (reaching out to more readers)
CONS:
1. I prefer a physical book that you can actually hold in your hands.
2. A wise man told me that our eyes weren't made to stare at a screen (pixels) for a long time.
So, after thinking long and hard about eBooks, I finally decided "Hey, why not reach out to more readers?"
Then, the next task was figuring out how to create an eBook (Mind you, this does not mean that I had to write my manuscript all over again). At first, it seemed like a hard task, mainly because I've never did an eBook before. I always thought that that was for the more technologically-advanced writer. But after a simple Google search, and a site that showed you step-by-step on how to create an eBook, I was on my way to uploading the eBook-version of my manuscript. Basically, you're saving the manuscript in a different format, without completely changing the original. So, you'll have the original, while you have you eBook version of it. And of, PDF-ing your stuff (manuscript, cover art, etc.) is important, because again, it's an eBook, so the formatting is digital.
Though, as much as I was hoping to only sell physical copies of my books, I had to think like a business. A business has to reach out to people, and come up with new ways of reaching those people. And with that, I'm happy.
