As I continue to work on the final draft to the third installment of Dolphin Princess, I've thought about how many pages that I want to have in it. And that led to thinking about setting a goal.
I know that for Books 1 and 2, I'm in the 400-page range. But with Book 3, I hope to extend it to the 500-page range. But then again, I never know how many pages a book is going to be until I finish writing it.
Usually, when I start a rough draft in a manuscript, that leaves me with around 200 pages. But then, once I make the final touches to the manuscript, the number of pages have increased. So already, it's typical to have a large page count.
Therefore, if Book 3 ends up in the 500-page range, then that's fine. And if it ends up having around 400 pages like the previous books, then that's okay too. Know why? Because I tend to think quality over quantity.
