First of all, I was expecting to complete Draft #1 by the end of this summer. However, after looking through a journal I had mapped out for Book 3, I thought of shortening it, and saving the back-end of the mapped plot for Book 4... In other words, it's like taking 3/4 of what you have in your journal, but saving the other 1/4 for the next book. In this case, I saw myself fleshing out the last 1/4 for Book 4.
And so, the moral of this blog post is that whenever you're writing, things can change at an instant. What you had originally written down in a journal may not be the end result of what you come up with.
Now, don't get me wrong: I had thought long and hard about the entire third book of this series. (You'll probably understand whenever Books 3 and 4 are standing together in your bookshelf in the future.)
Though, I was hoping that this first draft would take longer to write, because for one: when I had told my dad that Book 2 was coming out in June 2019 (NEXT MONTH), he was like: "Whoa! Hang on! I haven't read the first book yet!" However, when I had told another relative about this reaction, she was all: "Well, too bad! He should get your book already!" (It's nice to know that you still have support on the book series, despite not having many book sales yet.)
Long-story short: Draft 1 to Book 3 is finished. However, there's still more work to be done. Why? Well, as I've said before in my blog, Draft 1 is always never the finished product. So, this week, I'll get right to work on revisions and whipping up a second draft.
So, what happens next, in the meantime? Well, I'm gonna need another composition book to write my notes for Book 4!
